Besides acting, Chinese stars Zhang Ziyi, 44, and Fan Bingbing, 41, also dabble in real estate.
They have such a keen eye for acquiring property that they reportedly own more than 100 million yuan (S$19.2mil) worth of real estate in Beijing.
Bingbing has also amassed several properties in Canada, which rake in HK$3.5mil (S$603.5K) a year in rental income alone.
But looks like one of the investments has hit a snag.
Recently, there have been reports that the actresses are among a group of celebrities who have been caught in a property scam.
They reportedly bought luxury villas in China for more than 100mil yuan (S$19.2mil) a few years ago.
Despite paying in full, they have not received the title deeds.
It is rumoured that it is due to a company illegally occupying the land.
The stars did not take legal action earlier as they thought the matter would be resolved over time, but that was not the case.
Together with other affected owners, including Chinese actors Jia Nailiang and Lin Yongjian, they have set up a committee to jointly file a lawsuit against the relevant parties.
After news about the incident broke, netizens were surprised that celebrities would be scammed, and pointed out that if a lawsuit was filed, it would become a “money-burning war”.
