Marius Yo (Marius Julius Seiryu Schmich Yo) debuted in the entertainment industry with the Japanese boy group Sexy Zone in November 2011 when he was only 11 years old.
Still, despite his young age, Marius Yo was well-loved by fans and shocked everyone when he announced he was retiring from the entertainment industry on December 27, 2022. He also ended his time with his agency, Johnny & Associates.
Although the announcement was shocking, especially since he was only 22, Marius Yo explained to fans that he had put a lot of thought into the decision. In his statement, Marius Yo shared that he wanted to live “a normal life” and that he was “studying politics, philosophy, business, and international law in college.”
The time spent with the fans of Sexy Zone is an invaluable asset to me. I’ve never regretted becoming an idol because of everyone. I’m going to look for a normal life belatedly. As such, it will be difficult to imagine a future where I return to Japan and the entertainment industry. After a long period of consideration, I decided to retire. I’ve talked about it with the rest of the members, and they cheered on my dreams and health. I’m studying politics, philosophy, business, and international law in college. I will grow and use my knowledge to become a useful human and help the world and international societies. I’m sincerely thankful to the Sexy Zone members and fans who have spent more than half of my life with me since I was 11 years old.

Since his retirement, Marius Yo hasn’t been very active on social media. But he has since created an Instagram account to talk to his fans and friends.
In most of his Instagram posts, it is evident that Marius Yo is still incredibly creative, whether he’s getting inspired by art…
Or even completing artistic projects himself, like Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement…
Or sculpture work, he definitely has not lost his artistic talent.
Marius Yo also continues to show off his kind heart. For instance, for his 23 birthday on March 30, he asked fans to celebrate with him by donating to one of the charities he supports.
Fortunately, Marius Yo seems to be enjoying his life, and fans are happy to see he’s doing so well.
